Fifth Class become recording artists

This year in Mr. O’Connell and Ms. White’s classes particpated in the Traditional Singers in Residence Programme. Well reknowned traditional singer Elle-Marie O’Dwyer taught the children some well celebrated traditional songs including Brian O’Linn, Rory Og and The Great Big Roaming Ass.

They also learned about the history of traditional singing in Co. Clare and about famous singers like Robbie McMahon and Sean O’Sé. As a result of the children’s enthusiasm and hard work throughout the programme they were chosen to record the song Brian O’Linn on a C.D. which will be launched on August 19th from the Gig Rig to celebrate Fleadh Ceoil na hEireann. Recording took place on June 21st with sound engineer Matt Purcell and Elle Marie. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience the recording of a C.D.. Congratulations to all involved.
