Our National Flag

A team from the Defence Forces visited the school today to present us with the Irish Tricolour.  Sgt. Derek Dinan of the 12th Infantry Battalion, Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick led the team.  Sgt. Dinan opened the ceremony with an explanation of the 1916 Proclamation and its context in history.  Jack from 6th class read part of the proclamation to the school community.  A Question & Answer session was then held on the flag with an explanation of the protocols for handling and displaying the flag.  The team then presented the flag to the school and it was received on our behalf by pupils Callum and Naomi.  Click here to see photographs from the event.
